About Jim
Glamorous film stars, posing on publicity photos were the start of Jim's fascination with American cars.
The posters came back with Jim's dad, commissionaire at New York's Bronx theatre, to the family home in Dublin, where teenage Jim and his brother used to dream of driving the cars owned by the stars.
But Jim's first car was the opposite of American mega-metal. A pre-war baby Fiat 500, which he paid for at ten shillings a week deducted from his electrician's wages. Driving it was "absolutely magic" - as we all remember our first car.
Jim's boyhood dream never faded and his first American car was a '63 RHD Ford Galaxy convertible, bought in 1965. It was followed by a Rambler Ambassador and then a 1969 Mustang in Grabber Blue with a shaker hood.
From these beginnings grew this collection of the cars of the stars and the rest, as they say, is history.
